Who We Are
Our Values Determine Our Actions
Humility: We acknowledge our need for God and for one another, so that we might build each other up and work together for the glory of God.
Authenticity: We are honest about our joys and struggles, our successes and our failures, because we desire to be fully known.
Heart: We are passionate about God and guiding one another, which requires us to be "all in."
Integrity: We act the same, whether at home, church, work, or play, because God defines our core identity.
Service: We look for opportunities to serve others because Jesus came to serve us.
What We Believe Determines Who We Are
01 One True God
- We believe in one God.
- God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
- Gen 1:1-2; Deut 6:4; Ps 24:1; Matt 3:16-17, 28:19; John 1:1-3; 1 Cor 2:10-11
02 Jesus Christ
- We believe Jesus is the Son of God.
- Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and offered himself on a cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. He rose from the dead, demonstrating his power over sin and death, and one day will return in glory to establish a new heaven and a new earth.
- Isa 9:6-7, 53:5; Matt 1:18-23, 28:5-6; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Cor 15:3-6; Heb 4:14-15
03 Holy Spirit
- We believe the Holy Spirit is still active today, especially wherever and whenever the Word of God is shared.
- The Holy Spirit lives in every person who has proclaimed faith in Jesus Christ, giving each one unique spiritual gifts. He comes to empower the Church to preach the Gospel, understand spiritual truths, and live a holy life.
- Ezek 36:26-27; Joel 2:28-29; John 14:26; 1 Cor 3:16; Gal 5:22-23; Titus 3:5
04 The Bible
- We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and is the sole rule and norm for faith and life.
- The entirety of the Bible points towards Jesus Christ and God’s redemptive plan for humanity. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, it was written by human authors; it is trustworthy and without error.
- Deut 4:1-2, 17:19; Ps 12:6; 119:105; Pr 3:5-6; Isaiah 40:8, 2 Tim 3:15-17; Heb 4:12; 2 Pet 1:20-21
05 Salvation
- We believe salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
- In love, God gave humanity free will, either to live for Him or for ourselves. Adam and Eve, the first human beings, by their disobedience, brought sin and death (physical and spiritual) to all people. Ultimately, this is the choice we all make, and so we all need forgiveness, which the Holy Spirit reveals to us. God graciously made a way to restore us through faith in His Son Jesus. By receiving this free gift of salvation, the believer is given eternal life in the future and hope today for a new life through a restored relationship with God and humanity.
- Ps 32:1-5; Isaiah 53:6-12; John 3:16-17, 14:6; Acts 2:21; Rom 5:1-2, 6:23, 10:10-13; Eph 2:1-10; Titus 3: 3-7; 1 John 1:7-9
06 Humanity
- We believe God made human beings in His image. God wants people of every tribe and language and nation, and race to be part of His Kingdom.
- They were created male and female at conception, an unchangeable design to carry out His good will. Sexuality is to be enjoyed in the covenant relationship of marriage between one man and one woman. Both have been designed with a unique purpose, abilities, and personality to make a difference in the world.
- Gen 1:26-31, 2:18-24; Deut 22:5, Lev 18:22; Ps 139:13; Matt 22:37-38; Eph 2:8-10, 5:1-2, 5:30-33; 1 Peter 2:9
07 The Church
- We believe in the Church, which is God’s redeemed people.
- Every Christian should be an active participant in a local church body that together makes up the “Big C Church.” They gather to teach, disciple, love, pray, worship, and serve as they fulfill The Great Commission.
- Matt 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-47; Rom 12: 4-18; Eph 4:1-7, 4:12-16; Heb 10:23-25; 2 Tim 4:7-8; James 2:14-26; Rev 3:8, 21:3-4
